Like a Local: Westhampton Beach

Summer has come to an end and we are reminiscing on our time spent in the Hamptons over the past few months. We decided to dedicate a post to our favorite little beach town Westhampton Beach, NY and the special spots in the surrounding area, read on to find out our favorite restaurants, the freshest seafood around and epic activities!

Westhampton Beach is a village in the Southeast Coastal Region of Suffolk County on Long Island, New York. It's is commonly known as a summer town on the east end of Long Island that known as The Hamptons. Westhampton is often overlooked and can remain hidden in the shadows of Southampton & Easthampton and now Montauk but that’s what makes WHB so special. Less crowds, more laid back attitudes, no fuss but still all of the fun - that’s how we like to describe the special gem that is Westhampton.

The number one recommended thing to see are the beaches themselves. The Hamptons are known for their gorgeous beaches and relaxing summer spots. White sand, refreshing waters with great waves for surfing, the beaches are found on Dune Road, an amazing drive sandwiched between the bay and the ocean. The road stretches on for miles and go through many different towns on the south shore.

Amazing restaurants like Dockers, Star Boggs and Oaklands ensure fine-dining as well as high-end boutiques for great shopping in the quaint, charming town just minutes from the white sand beaches.

Some of our favorite shops include Mint, Mustique, Shoe Inn and Farenheit 451.

Learn where the locals go for delicious clams, wings and weekly drink deals, like John Scotts Surf Shack. Have a beach day complete with a picnic from Sunset Beach Bakery and a swim in the ocean at Pikes Beach or Cupsogue on Dune Road. You can also take a day trip to see the other Hamptons and maybe go all the way to the end for a Montauk visit, stop at Lunch for the best lobster roll around.

Clams on the half shell and spicy, strawberry margaritas sitting on the deck overlooking the inlet at Oaklands - yes please!, they offer hot and cold lobster rolls with yummy sides - you may even have a celebrity siting here, it's just that good! We also really enjoy the drive to get here and love to stop in the little villages along the way.

We love to rent the old boats from for a day of fluke fishing and clamming with family and friends. Their motto is "Quit wishin'. Go fishin'! Silly Lily is one of the last fully equipped true fishing stations on the east coast. Renting one of their fishing dories is the best way to get into shallow spots where some of the best catch can be found.

Great photos and the kids in the family loved them! They also have linked up with Stone Creek Inn for delicious, local catch. What better way to complement a day of being out on the water, than to grab a bite and a beer at when you get your land legs back. They have a great menu that includes fish and meat tacos, ribeye sandwich, lobster Rolls, calamari salad, just to mention a few. They even have paddle boards and a happy hour on the weekends that are always a good time.

If you're looking for seafood, go to , a retail and wholesale fish market with a wide selection of local fish and shellfish. It's a long time family run business with the highest of standards in seafood handling and preparation. Easily the best seafood on the island, be sure to go!

If you’re looking for another way to spend your day there’s great wine tasting just up the road that is always picture worthy and an absolute blast. We especially love to spend the day sipping in the sun.
